Rating: 4 unicorns

When my friends told me that they liked this movie, I was pretty suspicious. The cartoons that I've seen have not been that great!
But Shrek is entirely different than most any animated movie."You can really see the character in his eyes," my dad commented about the ogre. The animation is just so good that you forget that you are watching an animation, if that is possible. The movie is well-paced, and it has a plot that really draws you in.
The voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz are all superb. Also John Lithgow really does a nice job of making Lord Farqaud the deliciously evil prince. It seems like all the actors really enjoyed making this movie! It's remarkable that the actors never saw or heard one another while making the movie, they just recorded their voices in a booth. Again, when you watch the movie, you feel like they are real, live characters.
There are many funny jokes that are totally inappropriate! It's totally irreverant, and that's why people of all ages love this movie.
